Narrative genealogy reports are among the most highly structured documents in existence. Computers are ideally suited for performing all the tedious formatting, footnoting, cross-referencing, and indexing tasks. Most lineage-linked genealogy programs claim some reporting capability, but it seems that their code writers are not completely aware of the complex requirements for quality genealogical writing. Here we review in detail the ability of several programs to generate narrative descendencies. We hope you find it useful and informative.
